Saraswati Statue Playing the Veena while Seated on a Swan 20"

This bronze statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand cast by the artists of Bangladesh.

Special Features:  This piece is very unique in its style.  It departs from typical Pala period pieces that Bangladesh usually produces.  Saraswati looks to be a mix of two styles, North Indian and Hoysala style of the south.  Saraswati expression is North Indian with her wide eyes and rounded face.  The overall mass of her and her vehicle the beautiful swan she sits on is typical of Northern Indian bronzes.  Her flourishing robes, ornate headdress and elegant base she sits upon are all typical of the Hoysala style of Halebid in south India.  Overall it is a very interesting and beautiful piece.
