This hand made, bronze sculpture is a one-of-a-kind statue, hand cast by the artists of south India.

Special Features:  This magnificent polished bronze piece depicts the marriage of Meenakshi with Lord Sundareshwar (Shiva).  The bronze is cast in a much different style than is usually used in south India.  Both Shiva and Parvati are wearing large hoop earrings.  Their faces are slender and lifelike.  The present style in south India is for all gods to have large womanly hips regardless of their gender.  Shiva has the regular shape of a man.  Their is a cobra perched on the shoulder of Lord Shiva.  Parvati is gently holding the hand of her husband to be.  This is the part in the marriage ceremony where water is poured over their hands and they are joined as husband and wife.

About the Golden Polish:  This bronze sculpture has been polished after casting giving it a golden shine.  Polished bronze pieces are often used in temples.  Temples prefer the polished bronze icons because the rituals involved in puja often involve bathing the bronze deity, which naturally removes the bronze patina of an older piece.  Over time and with no periodic care the golden polish will naturally dull to form a dark patina that is naturally found on aged bronze.

Care:  The piece can be used both indoors and outdoors.  Dust the piece regularly.  If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the statue.

Shipping is automatically calculated by UPS for shipping within the US and Canada.  Each piece is usually shipped within 24 hours of the order with the exception of the weekend.   If you are in Canada please select "UPS Standard to Canada" for the shipping option.  If you are an international customer please select "TNT International Shipping" during checkout.  The shipping will come out as $0 and will be added to your order.  Please call 203-629-0902 or email us info@lotussculpture.com for a shipping quote.
