This wood sculpture is a one of a kind statue, hand carved by the artists of south India.
Special Features: This piece has a crack in it that goes through the five headed cobra. There is also a crack on the base of the serpent. We have held this piece for a year to make sure that the crack is not in fear of compromising the piece. The crack has not enlarged in the time we have had the piece.
Shakti is the hidden power that turns matter into life. She is the divine spark, the flow of God’s love. Anyone who is connected with spirit has Shakti. Shakti is the mother goddess, the source of all, the universal principal of energy, power and creativity. The worship of Shakti as this energy is the main objective of Tantric Yoga.
On top of the arch over the figure of Shakti is Mahakala or "Great Time". A five headed cobra also rests above the head of Shakti. The carving on this peice is beautiful.
