This granite Garden statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of south India using a hammer and chisel.

Special Features:  The androgynous form of Shiva is Ardhanari which combines Shiva (right) with his wife Parvati (left) into one body.  Shiva's side is to the right.  A cobra is raised with his hood opened supporting the weight of Shiva's body.  Shiva's right hand is held up granting boons to his followers.  Parvati is on the left side holding a lotus flower.  Her large womanly hips and exposed breast are easy to recognize.  He godly halo surrounds the pair.  On their foreheads are the markings of each god.  Shiva is denoted by 3 horizontal stripes and Parvati by on vertical bindi. 

About Green Granite:  Green granite is an beautiful as well as dense stone that has some special features.  It is capable of a variety of finishes which can give it a variety of different color possibilities.  It can be carved with a rough surface giving it a very faint light green color.  Or it can be polished to give the piece a dark green finish.  When the piece is wet the stone comes alive with a deep rich dark green which almost makes you pray for rain!   Green granite is even denser/harder than black granite making it extremely difficult and time consuming to carve.  The density of granite makes green granite sculpture perfect for any garden because it can be left outside in extreme heat and extreme cold for years without care.  While visiting temples in south India made of stone it is easy to see the parts of the temple made from green granite because it looks like it was carved yesterday rather than 800 years ago!

Care: Wash the piece with soap and water to prevent dirt build up.

Shipping is calculated from Greenwich, Connecticut after the purchase.  This piece is too heavy to ship via UPS ground and will be shipped using a “white glove” service like ABF Shipping or UPS Freight.  Time is needed to pack the piece in a crate.  Each piece is usually shipped within 3 working days.  If you place your order online shipping will show in the order as $0.
