"I
have a growing collection of wonderful statues from Lotus Sculpture.
I return again and again because of the quality, and the
affordability, but most of all because of what I can only call the
spirit of each piece. The owner, Kyle, has exquisite taste and by
buying a piece from him I know I am supporting artists that love
what they do, and the love shows in what they make. So all I can say
is, I love Lotus Sculpture!"

This colored red marble statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of south India.
Special Features: This unique sculpture boasts a variety of deities that are part of Shiva's family or are associated with Shiva. On the upper portion of the statue there is Shiva laying in a relaxed posture. A cobra is poised next to his head with it's neck flaps spread in a threatening position. It is a subtle hint that you should not fool with the power of Shiva. A full lion skin is wrapped around Shiva's body. At his feet is the humanoid form of Shiva's white bull Nandi called Nandikeshvar. At Shiva's shoulder is the river goddess Ganga. Below Ganga is a large head an elephant.
The bottom portion of the sculpture is centered around Shiva's wife Parvati. At her feet is her son Ganesh. Above Ganesh is the only figure not closely associated with Shiva, the vehicle of Vishnu, a flying Garuda.
What makes this piece so special is that all these figures are placed within the design of an Om symbol. In traditional India it is difficult for artists to go outside of the normal standards that they have been following for centuries. This unique piece certainly goes well outside of the normal south Indian sculptor's mentality.
A note on the artist: The artist is a very special contemporary artist with a very unique style. He takes classical figures and motifs and molds them together. What is produced is completely unique sculpture that rips down the barriers of classical south Indian sculpture. He is a contemporary force that is taking modern Indian sculpture to a new level.
About Gorora Stone: Gorora stone or Red marble is a wonderful stone for sculpture. It is rarer than most soft stones and must be shipped into Tamil Nadu from
Uttar Pradesh in the north. The stone has wonderful cream/yellow veins in it contrasting to the beautiful deep red of the stone. The stone is extremely glossy. When a red marble statue is polished it has a disarming shimmer. Please email
