This hand made, bronze sculpture is a one-of-a-kind statue, hand cast by the artists of south India.

Special Features:   There is no such subject of Ganesh holding an umbrella in Hindu mythology.  The pose is a later day creation by the artisans of south India.  This Ganesh is called Mappilai (bride-groom) Ganesh.  In the Hindu, brahman marriage ritual, the bridegroom (mappilai) has to carry a umbrella and a pot-filled with water-as a part of ritual.    Ganesh looking his usually care free self seemingly out on a Sunday afternoon stroll.  The bells encircling the removable umbrella showcases the pieces magnificence.   The 16 moving, and ringing bells dangle from the spectacular umbrella.  Any hint of a breeze sets the bells in motion and they begin to ring.

The details are impressive.  His feet are perfectly detailed with every nail and crease of skin being accurately portrayed.  Ganesh is wearing high heeled clogs adding to the delight of the piece.  The water vessel he carries in his left hand is decorated in its entirety.  The long string of malas dangling from Ganesh's shoulders are wonderful and unique.

The base of the statue has two horns sticking up from it.  The horns are used to tie poles to the piece so that Hindu Devotees can carry the Ganesh in procession during festivals.
