This colored marble statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of south India. 

Special Features:  The artist of this piece loving named this sculpture "Rasta Ganesh".  It is delightful fusion of Ganesh with His father, Shiva.  Ganesh has full dreadlocks like His father who renounces the world.  He holds in his hands a trishul or trident, a dhamru or drum and cobra.  His 4th had is held in the abhaya-mudra or "fear not" gesture.  Ganesh gently leans back upon the vahana or vehicle of His father, the white bull, Nandi. 

A note on the artist:  The artist is a very special contemporary artist with a very unique style.  He takes classical figures and motifs and molds them together.  What is produced is completely unique sculpture that rips down the barriers of classical south Indian sculpture.  He is a contemporary force that is taking modern Indian sculpture to a new level.

About Gorora Stone:  Gorora stone or Red marble is a wonderful stone for sculpture.  It is rarer than most soft stones and must be shipped into Tamil Nadu from Uttar Pradesh in the north.  The stone has wonderful cream/yellow veins in it contrasting to the beautiful deep red of the stone.  The stone is extremely glossy.  When a red marble statue is polished it has a disarming shimmer. 

Care:  The piece is for indoor use only.  Dust the piece as needed using a cotton piece of cloth.  You can really make it shine if you use a cloth to buff the surface.
