The black marble statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of Rajisthan, India.
Special Features: Ganesh is seated on a full lotus base in the Abhaya mudra hand position otherwise known as the "fear not" hand position as His palm is completely open. His other three hands hold a bowl of sweets, an axe and an elephant goad. Goads (or elephant prods) are typically used to direct elephants. Goads are symbolic of how one should steer the soul away from the ignorance and illusions of this earthly world just as a mahout would steer an elephant away from any treacherous path. There is a small rat at the foot of Ganesh who is enjoying some of Ganesh's sweets. During the shipping from Rajasthan to Tamil Nadu the backside of the base broke off. The piece was fixed in India by our marble artists in Tamil Nadu.
In the front of the base there is a small line carved into the stone. This is so that any liquids that are poured on Ganesh during puja can be funneled by the slit in the stone and be collected.
Care: The piece is for indoor use only. Dust the piece as needed using a cotton piece of cloth. You can really make the surface and color of the statue shine if you use a cloth to buff the surface.
