This colored  marble statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of south India.

Special Features: This statue is actually two carvings in one piece of marble.  When viewing from the front you will see Ganesh dancing on a Narsi base.  A Narsi is a mythical lion beast.  Ganesh has 10 arms that are spread out like the rays of the sun. He holds a drum, knife, snake, tusk, trident, club, flower, and a bell.  A three headed serpent hovers over his head.  When viewing this statue from the back you will see the Hindu Gods Shiva and Parvati synthesized into the one form of Ardhanari.  Shiva is depicted on the left half with Parvati on the right half.  There is a large cobra whose tail begins at the feet of Ardhanari.  Shiva holds a trident, drum, and has one open palm in the abhaya mudra or "no fear" position. Parvati is holding a lotus flower and the tail of the giant snake.  The detail of this piece is truly amazing.

About the Dark Stone Sange-Rathek:  Sange-rathek is found in Jhansi, in the state of Bihar, India.  The stone is known for its wonderful deep black/blue color and the colored purple and yellow veins that flow through the stone.  Looking into a piece of sange-rathek is like staring into deep space and seeing distant galaxies.  It is a very unique and wonderful stone.  Sculpture is very rare to find in this stone because there are seldom pieces of raw stone large enough to accommodate a full-sized sculpture.

Care:  Not much is needed to care for this piece.  Simply dust the piece as needed.  If you really want it to shine you can use a cotton cloth to buff the smooth surfaces which really makes it glisten.  The statue cannot be placed outdoors.

Shipping is automatically calculated by UPS for shipping within the US and Canada.  Each piece is usually shipped within 24 hours of the order with the exception of the weekend.   If you are in Canada please select "UPS Standard to Canada" for the shipping option.  If you are an international customer please select "TNT International Shipping" during checkout.  The shipping will come out as $0 and will be added to your order.  Please call 203-629-0902 or email us info@lotussculpture.com for a shipping quote.
