This granite Garden statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand carved by the artists of south India using a hammer and chisel.

"Jai Ma! Kali Durga Ma, Kali Ma!
Jai Ma! Kali Durga Ma. Jai Ma-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!
Kali Ma! Jai Ma-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah! Durga Ma!"

Special Features:  The statue shows Kali is full fierce form, with a garland of skulls around her neck, a skirt made of severed arms, Her saber raised and a decapitated human head in her left hand.  She holds a long trident.  She is standing on the corpse of her husband, Shiva.  Her long matted hair flows down her back.

The kali is made from 2 pieces of granite.  One is the full figure of Kali and Shiva.  The other piece is the base She stands upon.

Shiva Calms Kali:  Intoxicated with Raktabija’s blood, Kali ran amuck across the three worlds, destroying everything and everyone in her sight.  To restrain her, Shiva took the form of a corpse and blocked her path.  As the goddess, blinded by bloodlust, tripped on his lifeless body, she was jolted out of her frenzy.  She wondered if she had killed her own husband.  She placed a foot on Shiva’s chest and brought him back to life.  Shiva then took the form of a little child and began to cry, stirring maternal love in the heart of Kali.  This forced her to shed her fierce form; Kali became Gauri, the radiant mother, bestower of life.

Care:  Not much is needed to care for this piece.  Simply wash off using soap and water once a year or as needed.  Extreme cold and extreme heat will not affect the statue.
