There is a small hole in the back right leg of Varaha. It is not visible from the front of the piece.
This hand made, bronze sculpture is a one-of-a-kind statue, hand cast by the artists of south India.
Special Features:
Vishnu's preserving, restoring, and protecting
powers have been manifested in the world in a
series of ten earthly incarnations known as
avatars. The avatars arrive either to prevent a
great evil or to effect good upon the earth.
This sculpture represents Vishnu's avatar;
Varaha the boar. He holds a conch and a discus,
items which are often held by Vishnu. Seated on
Varaha's lap is Lakshmi, Vishnu's wife and the
goddess of wealth.
Care: Regular dusting should keep
the piece clean. If you want to keep the piece
looking new you can use a cotton rag and some
coconut oil to regularly clean the piece. The
statue can be used for both indoor and outdoor
use.
