This wood sculpture is a one of a kind statue, hand carved by the artists of south India.

Special Features:  This beautiful panel has a total of five Ganesh figures on it.  The far left Ganesh holds in His hands a noose, an axe, his broken tusk that he used to write the Mahabharata epic and a mango. His trunk is to his right which has a symbolic meaning.  When his trunk is to his right, the trunk represents moksha, good for renouncing the world.  The next Ganesh carving (second in from the left in these pictures) shows Him holding a noose, an axe, a knife, prayer malas, his broken tusk that he used to write the Mahabharata epic and a bowl of rice.  The center Ganesh holds in his hands, a noose, an axe, two lotus flowers, and his broken tusk that he used to write the Mahabharata epic.  He also holds Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, in one of his left arms.  Continuing from left to right the fourth Ganesh holds in his hands a noose, an axe, a knife, his broken tusk that he used to write the Mahabharata epic and a mango.  The last Ganesh (to the far right) holds in his hands, a noose, an axe, his broken tusk that he used to write the Mahabharata epic and a ball of sweets. In this specific carving His trunk turns to His left, that is the direction for success in the world.  It is a position associated with grihastas, or householders.  At the bottom, to either the right or the left each individual Ganesh carving is both a rat and a small offering of rice.  Each Ganesh carving is seated on a double lotus base with a small roof above Him.
