This wood sculpture is a one of a kind statue, hand carved by the artists of south India.

“If you take home a stone and worship it in full faith, over a course of time you are bound to see the image of Ganesh.”

Special Features:  Ganesh is often depicted playing music.  In this piece in particular Ganesh is shown dancing and playing the veena.  Ganesh, like Krishna, affirms life by celebrating in it's beauty.  He is surrounded by colorful peacocks that are enjoying his music.  Also enjoying his music you will see a Gana on the base to the right in this picture.  Ganesh's name literally means "Lord of Gana.Ganesh was entrusted by Shiva with the leadership of the ganas, Shiva's dwarfish, rowdy retinue, in compensation for the loss of his human head.  The piece has a beautiful multicolored wood finish.    The painting scheme is adopted from the bright colors used in south Indian temples.  The temples are known for their large gopurams or towers that rise up into the sky decorated with various gods and goddesses.  The gopurams are painted in vibrant colors which mirror the vibrant life of south India.

Care:  Dust the piece as needed.  You can use a wood cleaner to really make it shine.  Mainly for indoor use.
