This hand made, bronze sculpture is a one-of-a-kind statue, hand cast by the artists of Bangladesh.

"Because You love the Burning -ground, I have made a Burning-ground of my heart - That You, Dark One, hunter of the Burning-ground, May dance Your eternal dance."
~ Bengali Hymn~

Special Features:  A very unique aspect of the Bangladeshi Nataraja is the 3 oil lamps that are naturally on the statue.  Shiva normally holds Agni or fire in his left back hand.  In the Bangladeshi Nataraja he holds a oil lamp that can be lit by adding a little oil and a wick and lit.  There are also 2 oil lamps on the base that can be lit.  Shiva's dancing figure is covered with 7 cobras.  Even the dwarf Shiva dances upon is holding a cobra!

The Symbolism Behind the Snakes Worn by Shiva:  Nataraja wears a snake coiled around his upper arms and neck symbolizing the power he has over the most deadly of creatures. Snakes are also used to symbolize the Hindu dogma of reincarnation. Their natural process of molting or shedding their skin is symbolic of the human souls transmigration of bodies from one life to another.
