Special Features:
Few Indian Bronzes can compare with this example for its compositional complexity, richness of details and technical sophistry. Especially noteworthy is the treatment of the rocks; this particular stylized formula was a hallmark of Kashmiri bronzes. Another notable feature is the rich inlay of the Buddha's cushion. Taken from; "The Great Tradition of Indian Bronze Masterpieces"
In total there are 15 figures in
depicted in this fabulous and active bronze. The peice is broken out in three
layers. The bottom layer consisting of the animal domain complete with two
playful lions. The second layer consists of devotees of the Buddha and the
third layer consisting of the Buddha. The piece seems to be a rendition of the
artist's world view.
It is wonderful to see the differences between the Kashmiri school and the Pala
and Chola schools of bronze casting.
Care: The piece can be used both indoors and outdoors. Dust the piece regularly. If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the statue.
