This bronze statue is a one of a kind sculpture, hand cast by the artists of Bangladesh.
Special Features: An elaborate and splendid bronze showing the goddess Durga with five heads (three face backwards) and ten arms seated on a male figure with four arms and attended by 5 subsidiary figures, is a work of remarkable technical skill. The goddess is seated in the royal posture and appears majestic. Her mount is none other than Shiva himself whose two rear hands are used to support the goddess. Shiva's head is turned upward in an attitude of adoration. The pyramidal arrangement and the top head of Durga set against a large nimbus (fiery halo) emphasis the greatness of the goddess. Flame-like projections from the nimbus and the fluttering ends of the scarf animate the sculpture as a whole. Beside the lotus on the pedestal there are two figures who are the original people who commissioned the piece in the 11th century. Shiva's sons, Ganesh and Kartikeya, also known as Murugan or Skanda, appear at the sides of the pedestal.
Care: The piece can be used both indoors and outdoors. Dust the piece regularly. If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the statue.
