This hand made, bronze sculpture is a one-of-a-kind statue, hand cast by the artists of south India.
Special Features: Hanuman known also as Anjaneya, is one of the most important personalities in the epic, the Ramayana. He is a vanara or "human with the tail of a monkey" who aided Lord Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, in rescuing His Consort, Sita, from the Rakshasa king Ravana. The monkey general, Hanuman is shown standing with his hands together in respect in adoration of Rama. Hanuman is renown for his faithful and steadfast service to Rama as told in the Ramayana epic in which Hanuman played an active part. Some consider Hanuman to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
About the Golden Polish: This bronze sculpture has been polished after casting giving it a golden shine. Polished bronze pieces are often used in temples. Temples prefer the polished bronze icons because the rituals involved in puja often involve bathing the bronze deity, which naturally removes the bronze patina of an older piece. Over time and with no periodic care the golden polish will naturally dull to form a dark patina that is naturally found on aged bronze.
Care: Regular dusting should keep the piece clean. Over the years the golden polish will fade. In order to keep the piece shiny you can use a cotton rag and some coconut oil to regularly clean the piece. Or you can cut a half a lemon and go over the piece. The acid from the lemon removes any patina.
